What is the difference between the new wound care certificate( 297.00) course and the more expensive one( 797.00) ??? they both offer certificates, right? ??
Hi Stephanie, Yes, they both provide certificates of completion. The certification courses are much more detailed and provide CE hours and a training kit that is shipped to your home. The certification courses will prepare you to pass the nationally accredited wound care certification exam. The certificate course is less detailed and will NOT prepare you for the exam, however, will provide a very detailed overview of evidence-based wound management.

So I’m interested in trying to obtain a wound care certification. I have 11years of CNA experience as well as 7 years of LPN experience and recently I obtained my RN license. I have always worked in LTC, and have managed our wounds/treatments for the residents on a daily basis. My question is would that experience be enough to be eligible to take the courses that are offered?
Brandy, we applaud your commitment to the healthcare industry! To sit for the certification exam, you will need to show three years of clinical experience. The ABWM defines three years of clinical experience as follows:
“Three years of wound care experience can be acquired over the course of your career. It does not necessarily have to be a consecutive three years. Wound care does not have to be your primary responsibility during that time, as long as you can demonstrate you have had roles related to wound care throughout your career.”

I have been an RN for almost ten years working in a hospital setting in California. Wound care nurse is always my passion and working in the hospital allows me to obtain a hands on experience to care patients with different types of wounds. Our course and the accredited wound care certification are both recognized in CA.
There are no eligibility requirements to take our course. To sit for the certification exam, you will need to show three years of clinical experience. The ABWM defines three years of clinical experience as follows:
“Three years of wound care experience can be acquired over the course of your career. It does not necessarily have to be a consecutive three years. Wound care does not have to be your primary responsibility during that time, as long as you can demonstrate you have had roles related to wound care throughout your career.”
