wound care certification for lpns

LPNs are certified in basic patient care and can perform a variety of healthcare tasks and valuable services. Getting wound care management certified shows dedication beyond the basic LPN requirements. It also allows an LPN to distinguish themselves for possessing superior knowledge on wound care best practices, wound management, and wound care products. Wound care certified LPNs can be reimbursed for being better prepared to deliver services and produce outcomes that are beyond the basic expertise of other LPNs.

In order to become CWCA wound care certified, an LPN must pass complete the wound care coursework required and have 3-years experience. If you are an LPN and are not sure if you meet the eligibility requirements, you can email the AWBM (the organization that administers the CWCA certification) directly at [email protected]

Improve Your LPN Career

There is a demand for Wound Care Management-certified LPNs. General shortages in LPNs create an even greater shortage for LPNs certified in wound care. Unfortunately, many healthcare settings offer a general guidance on wound care that often falls short when it comes to providing personal wound care help. Wound care certified LPNs can help to bridge that healthcare gap. Nurses working in home health care settings will also be able to better treat patients if they possess more knowledge on wound care. More healthcare education always leads to better patient results.

Wound care does not have to be your primary responsibility during that time, as long as you can demonstrate you have had roles related to wound care throughout your career.”
