How to Obtain Wound Care Certification in 4 Easy Steps
Wound care knowledge is fast becoming a requirement in many workplaces. With our population aging and the number of individuals living with diabetes climbing, most health care professionals encounter wounds on a routine basis. Becoming a certified wound care professional can assist you both in advancing your career and in your daily practice. Wondering how to obtain wound care certification? - Determine eligibility: Wondering if are eligible to take a wound care certification exam? Any health care professional with at least three years of experience related to wound care management is eligible to take the examination.
Are you questioning how to obtain wound care certification if you do not have enough experience? No problem- we recommend that you take the wound care certification course and obtain your completion certificate and continuing education hours. I have been taking care of my brother for twenty years his bed bound I know that am good in wound care .
Hey, I have been interested in wound care for a while. Unfortunately in Ontario Canada, only nurses with a bachelor degree or five years of wound care experience can be enrolled in an approved 9 or 12 month certificate program offered here. So I am a registered practical nurse aka LPN in the USA. So my question is that if this certificate is recognized here. Thanks
Yes, the wound care certification course and the accredited certification is accepted in Canada. We have many Canadian nurses who take our course and become wound care certified. For more information view our wound care certification courses.
Where do take the exam? Is it on line also?
Thank you for your interest in WoundEducators.com. The course is taken online and the certification exam is taken at a local testing center.
Does the exam can be held outside the states as overseas، or only in the states as i live in saudi arabia
Omar,
You can use this tool to see if the ABWM CWCA, CWS, or CWSP is offered in your area. Best of luck! http://online.goamp.com/CandidateHome/displayTCList.aspx?pExamID=21400
Can you challenge the exam without taking the course?
Daniel, many paths require you to have an educational component. Which certification are you interested in pursuing, and how many years of wound care experience do you have?
Hello,
My name is Cody. I am highly interested in wound care. I was wondering could a pharmacy tech or even someone who work in a home medical/pharmacy, obtain this certification? Or does the person have to have at least an LPN degree.
Hey Cody, anyone can take our Basic Wound Care course and earn a completion certificate. For board certification, you can try to obtain the CWCA certification if you can prove you have 3 years of wound care experience or have worked in a wound care setting. The experience does not need to be consecutive. If you’d like to see if you meet all additional CWCA requirements, please contact the ABWM directly. Best of luck!
