Important Steps to Achieve Wound Care Certification

Wound care certification.  You know that it would be great for you, great for your patients, and great for your institution. But the acronyms alone are overwhelming!  Don’t worry, we will show you the important steps to achieve wound care certification.

Important things you should know about wound care certification

First and most important, wound care certification should be accredited. Accreditation is an assertion of quality, and demonstrates excellence in training, knowledge, and expertise. Accredited wound care certification tells patients and colleagues that you have achieved a level of excellence, and that you have committed to lifelong learning. That’s got to be worth shouting about, surely?

Second, you should be allowed to decide yourself how you will prepare for the certification exam. In order to maintain accreditation, a certification board must be independent from any educational company. This means that a certification board should not provide undue influence, pressure, require, market or encourage which course you should take to prepare for the exam.

Finally, the course and certification exam should be consistent with your educational level and professional license. One exam could not and should not test all levels.

How to Prepare for the Wound Certification Exam

The wound care certification exam is difficult. But then, anything worthwhile takes time and effort. Unfortunately, if you do not pass the exam, you will have wasted not only time and effort, but also money.

The course you choose to prepare you for certification needs to offer you a number of things. Specifically, the course should provide sufficient study hours, plenty of study materials, ample time and unlimited access to course materials. In addition, the course should provide accredited Continuing Education hours, so that you get credit for all that hard work.

It is here that online courses shine. Courses based online offer a multi-pronged approach for engaging learning. The online environment is ideal for use of audio, images, videos, flashcards and multiple checkpoints, quizzes and tests to make sure you retain the information learned. Interactivity is the key!

Online courses also offer you the convenience and flexibility that a classroom-based environment could never do. They save you time, expense and the hassle of traveling. Finally, because online providers do not have to cover costs associated with traditional teaching methods, online courses are considerably cheaper than classroom-based alternatives.

WoundEducators is proud to be the first provider of online wound care certification courses anywhere in the world!

With WoundEducators, you get all of the advantages of an online course at a cost that others cannot match. In fact, with WoundEducators, you get double the education for one-third of the cost. Don’t believe us? Shop around and compare cost/CE hour for our courses versus the competition. Plus, with our courses you enjoy 6-month unlimited course access and the wound training kit is yours to keep.

Join the growing number of certified wound care professionals. The benefits of choosing an accredited wound care certification will ensure that your credential meets industry standards, and carries the prestige of a formal accredited certification.

Register today and you’ll be on your way to that accredited wound care certification you never thought you would achieve.

We only provide online courses as we have found online wound care training to be far more effective than classroom training. Wound care is very visual and our learning platform allows you to view videos, images and engage in interactions to help retention. Preview our course to see how it works.

The American Board of Wound Management describes three years of clinical experience as:

“Three years of wound care experience can be acquired over the course of your career. It does not necessarily have to be a consecutive three years. Wound care does not have to be your primary responsibility during that time, as long as you can demonstrate you have had roles related to wound care throughout your career.” Find our more about our wound care certification courses.

I had wound care experience for almost 5 years being a home health nurse from 2010 – 2010. Does this mean that I can apply for wound certification exam? And since I have the BSN degree, I can apply for a wound care specialist certification? And what would be the requirements for this?

        Thank you very much.

I’m a CNA with experience over 30 years caring for patients in Nursing Setting, Mental Health, Homes Setting. I have been looking into your wound care on line, for the pass couple years. Wound care has always been another level of nursing care i will like to achieve. I always had felt very confident in dealing with wound care in home setting, and assisting Nurses with wound care. I am very interesting in taking my experience to next level and becoming wound care specialist would i qualify to take this course on line having a CNA experience over 30 years
