What You Will Learn
A diabetic foot ulcer is rarely one problem. It is the predictable end of a pathway: an insensate foot, often with compromised perfusion, taking repetitive stress it cannot feel. This module teaches you to screen for loss of protective sensation and assess perfusion before the foot breaks down, classify the ulcer with Wagner, University of Texas, SINBAD and WIfI so the plan matches the risk, offload the pressure that caused it, diagnose and treat diabetic foot infection and osteomyelitis, recognize the acute Charcot foot that must not be mistaken for infection, and treat the healed foot as a foot in remission that needs lifelong surveillance.
