What You Will Learn
Every wound care decision rests on anatomy, and most of it was learned once and never revisited. This module rebuilds that foundation for the clinician who assesses and treats wounds: the three layers of the skin and the cells that live in each, the basement membrane zone and why it matters for skin tears, blistering disorders and re-epithelialization, the three vascular plexuses and angiosome thinking that explain why a specific patch of tissue is failing, the venous and lymphatic pathways that carry fluid out, and the sensory and autonomic innervation behind monofilament testing and loss of protective sensation. It closes with the body systems that govern healing, from endocrine and renal to respiratory, immune, hepatic and gastrointestinal, and a branching clinical case that asks the question you will ask of every chronic wound: which delivery, removal or regulation pathway has failed in this patient?
