What Wound Care Conferences Should You Attend?
Unbelievable though it may be, we are already nearly halfway through 2013 and rapidly approaching the longest day. Fortunately, there is still plenty of time to take advantage of the numerous wound care conferences available to professionals working in the area. Some of the major wound care conferences that will take place during the second half of this year are described briefly below. Why not take a few moments to see whether there might be one for you.
Over the past two decades, the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) has become the biggest wound care conference in the country, and is now celebrating its 26th year. SAWC Fall 2013 will be convening in Las Vegas on September 27–29, and will offer up to 40 new clinical sessions and host a major exhibition of products and services for wound care professionals. According to publicity materials, SAWC Fall is committed to providing the highest level of clinical education and information to physicians, podiatrists, nurses, physical therapists, and allied health professionals dedicated to the advancement of wound care and healing.
Wolters Kluwer Health/Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, publisher of Advances in Skin & Wound Care is holding the 28th Annual Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin & Wound Care: The Conference for Prevention and Healing on October 24–27, 2013 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. This conference will meet the continuing-education needs of multidisciplinary skin and wound care practitioners by providing a forum for educational sessions and interactive workshops that offer comprehensive wound management strategies. Between 800−1,000 practitioners are expected to attend, including nurses, physicians, podiatrists, physical therapists, dietitians and others who manage skin and wound care patients across the continuum of health care.
Finally, for a slightly more informal wound care conference, Wild on Wounds, the annual conference dedicated to continuing education for all clinicians interested in healing wounds, will this year be held at Caesars Palace Hotel on September 11-14. WOW Wild on Wounds is a national conference held each year with the goal of spreading the knowledge needed to be a successful wound care practitioner.

I’m inquiring about your WCC certification course. I live in Alaska. Is the testing done at other states not on the internet? How long does the course normally take?
Hello Zetta,
Our course will prepare you for the WCC as well as the CWCA through the American Board of Wound Management. The testing will take place in Alaska. The course itself will take you approximately 60 hours to complete. The great part about it is that you proceed at your own pace.
